FAQs

How can I be sure the money will go to the charities?

If you know me, that’s (hopefully!) not an issue. But if you don’t know me, I can fully understand not wanting to send money to my project.

You can still help–just make a donation directly to one of the charities listed. Email me the receipt (donate -at- holycowproject -dot- org) and I will count it toward the total goal.

Will I get a tax deduction?

If you donate through this site or by sending me a check, then no, because Holy Cow Project is not, itself, a 501(c)(3) organization. Because I am asking for small contributions of $1-$5, chances are you may not want a tax deduction.

However, each organization I’ve chosen is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. You can make your donation directly to the charity of your choice, then email me the receipt (donate -at- holycowproject -dot- org) and I will count it toward the total goal.

What if you raise more than $7,000?

Any funds over $7,000 will be donated to Duncan’s Place, a Cat Sanctuary. My friend, Cathy Campbell, started Duncan’s Place from scratch last year and has already saved over 80 cats by devoting her own time, money, and life to the project.

Duncan’s Place is the underdog of the organizations I’ve selected, which is why any money raised in excess of my goal will go to them.

What is this vet school business? How long does it take? How much does it cost?

Vet school is much like medical school, except instead of learning about one species (humans), one learns about multiple species (dogs, cats, horses, wombats, etc.) It consists of four years’ training after college: the first three years are spent in the classroom, and the fourth year is spent in clinical rotations. When I am finished, I will be a veterinarian.

The cost to attend is approximately $20,000 per year, not including living expenses.

Why don’t you want us to donate money to you for your schooling?

Because that would be greedy, and it’s not about me. Mooooooo.
